Grandma Cookhill's Banana Bread
from the Arcanum Player Guide.
This recipe can be found at the end of Arcanum: Of Steamwork and Magick Obscura player guide. I'm rewriting this recipe to be easier for non americans to follow and I'm also adding some of my personal variations. Happy cooking!
Ingredients:
- Butter, softened - 80 grams
- Sugar, white or brown - 80 grams
- Egg, big - 1
- Flour - 200 grams
- Baking powder - 10 grams
- Baking soda - 5 grams
- Cinnamon - to taste
- Three very ripe bananas
Optional:
- Dark chocolate chips
- Walnuts
1) Preheat your oven at 180°C
2) In one bowl mix the softened butter with the sugar until you get a fluffly, light in colour mixture and put aside.
3) In a second bowl sift the dry ingredients and put aside.
4) In a third bowl mash (by hand or with the help of a blender if you prefer a smoother texture) the bananas. Personally I like to only add two and a half bananas in the mixture, then cut the remaning half in slices to use for decorating.
5) Add one third of the flour misture to the butter bowl, then add a third of the banana puree. Continue by adding both mixtures by thirds until everything is combined.
6) Optional: add the walnuts and/or the chocolate chips to the mixture
7) Pour your mixture in a plumcake pan and bake in the oven for 60 minutes at 180°C.
OPTIONAL: Before putting the banana bread mixture in the oven I like to decorate the batter by putting banana slices in a checker pattern and fill the empty spots with cinnamon sugar or walnuts.
A variation: if you don't like bananas or you don't have any at home you can substitute them with two big apples or two and a half small ones.
